time permits.
Internet Porch Sale
These are used personal
items that are excess to my needs.
Feel free to make an
offer on anything at any time. As a guide, in general 1/2 the street
price for the item is jist fine. Combining things will get you a better
price. My objective is primarily to move this gear off the porch. I'd be
thrilled to sell it at 1/4 street price to someone that would agree to take it
all at once. I'd even help load the van ;-)
Please read: If you know of a
501(c)(3) non-profit organization that would like to receive (most) anything
listed here free as a qualified donation do let me know. Preferably they should
be listed in the online-version of IRS Publication 78.
A dozen years ago I used
to buy and sell personal photo gear over the net via Usenet. I have been active
on eBay for 10 years as a buyer. But
I am not yet comfortable selling in the atmosphere of eBay. Hence my
Porch Sale.
All of these items
are sold "AS-IS".
However, except as
noted, as in the good 'ol days of Usenet when desk and home phone numbers
were in our sigs, and payment by personal check, and the items being sold were
mailed at the same time, you can send back your purchase within 5 days of
receipt in the same condition as it was sent and I will refund your money (less
shipping and PayPal fees if applicable) Exception is the large monitors which
are enough of a hassle to properly pack and ship that I don’t want to see them
come back …)
Pickup would be
preferable especially for large items. I don't necessarily have the right
shipping containers on hand. I prefer to ship by USPS Priority Mail with
tracking and insurance or UPS. I prefer payment by PayPal
(email for my PayPal address). Shipping-from Zip Code is 41011
(USPS) or 45202
(UPS)
Call or email with
questions or for more photos. In most cases, I have with experiences with
the items --sometimes a lot,
sometimes not, sometimes long
ago. Thanks for looking! Marc Hult Marc_F_Hult Marc F Hult

Home Theatre PC
I
decided to move the HT PC to the basement rack, so the elegant case and silent
features are not needed.
$450 $299 Or Best Offer for everything.
Read to the end.

Black extruded aluminum finned case to silence your 3-1/2" hard drive.

MS Windows Media Center
Edition CD and Certificate Of Authenticity and Key.
This HT PC was working fine
as the family room TV, audio machine and general purpose PC. Then it seemed to
become slow/flakey. I took it apart before properly diagnosing what -- if
anything -- ailed it.
So I will throw in possibly
suspect 'active' components for 'free' to anyone who buys the whole setup with
the proviso that the sale is AS-IS and no whining:
- ASUS
P4C800 Deluxe motherboard in box with manual and CD
- Intel 2.2ghz CPU (I think) CPU
- 120gb boot drive with XP SP2 MCE installed (you
_have_ to buy the CD and key to get this.
I also have
various other add-ons such as CD/DVD and (I think) fanless video card older TV
card I would throw in for a complete package.

One of the four plastic
plugs that attaches the Panel to the Enclosure is missing part of the clip. No
biggie. Otherwise excellent condition. I’m selling for ½ of lowest price at Lowes or Home Depot -- you tell me).
Cell Socket Model 61622
from WHP Wireless Inc that
allows one to plug in any Nokia series 5100, 6100, or 3285, 7160, or 7190
cell phone and connect that phone to conventional 2-conductor hardwired
residential telephone wiring. The built in antenna is an improvement over
that of the cell phone itself. You can leave you land line on one pair and add
the cell socket to the second pair and use both lines from any 2-line phone in
the house. The erstwhile www.cellsocket.com web site seems to have been
taken over by a liquidator selling cell sockets for Motorola cell phones but
there are bits and pieces of the old site left here's the FAQ page:
http://www.stsent.com/_banners/cellsocket_faqs.htm
It is said to work with DTMF tones, to wit:" The CellSocket will work with
certain devices that use DTMF to transmit information such as various makes of
security alarm systems." ($40)

Comtrol RocketPort Si hub 8-port Ethernet-to-serial hub.
This hub allows you to connect to eight RS-232, RS-422 and(or) RS-485 devices
individually selectable via software on a per/channel basis.. XP, W2K, Linux
and many other drivers available. One big advantage of these is that the PC
doesn't need to be located where the RS-xxx wiring or devices are. So you can
have the devices in the basement and the computer in the (pick another
room, country, or continent). 5vdc supply included. Discontinued but XP,
W2K W9x Linux drivers available here

8-port RS-232 with like-new DB-9 octa-cables. Native XP W2k support (no drivers necessary)
Automagically show up as com ports in Device Manager upon booting. Comtrol docs or equivalent. Fast and foolproof. Highly
recommended. I also have some DB-25 cables. ($60) Still available
Comtrol PCI
8-port RS-232 with female RJ45 connector on the PCI card bracket. This is
the most compact version I know of and is ideal or distributing RS-xxx over
Cat5 and patch panels because no DB-9/25-> RJ45 converters are
necessary. If I only have one (gotta dig more;-) , I want to keep it. ($60)

pay 2-4 times this for a case.

Touchscreens and Touchscreen tablet/wall-mount computers:
Two 20" finger
touch-screen overlays
with serial RS-232 (DB-9) control. Thin black aluminum frames. Drivers
available. Tested but not used. No marks of any kind. One with original
packing. These would work very well with 19" or 20" LCD monitors. $150 each $100
each $60 each
Five+ IBM 7592
Industrial Pentium touch-screen computers based on 100mhz ThinkPad with built-in 800x600
12" touch screens, Ethernet, 12vdc operation. two PCMCIA
slots, PS2 mouse/keyboard, RS-232, external floppy. OS2 / W95. Info and
comprehensive docs, drivers and utils here: http://www.gilanet.com/ohlandl/ic_files/ref7592.html
I suggest use as wall-mounted HA
Touch-screen Browser Boxes, but I used one as a CyberHouse HA
server for years. The thin black aluminum surround of the screen is hardly
bigger than the screen itself and makes for much more elegant, cleaner-looking
installation than a hacked Fujitsu or other Tablet solution IMO. These are
_meant_ to be mounted and have inconspicuous tapped screw holes on the back side
of the cast aluminum frames. Not plastic. Put one in every room. The screens
are responsive to the finger (no stylus needed). OS/2 is loaded on
all but one which has W95. The touch-screen driver is whacked on the W95 box
(long story ...) and needs to be troubleshot or converted to OS/2 which is a
vastly better OS. These run off nominal 12 vdc and work perfectly from a
13.8vdc charger and sealed lead battery for built-in UPS. I also have
some spare hard drives, small keyboard, IBM Ethernet PCMCIA cards and dongles,
other various spare parts, SW utilities and drivers, another (sixth) unit with
cracked screen, a seventh unit (I think) that is functional but partly
disassembled. Best offer over $350. $250
$150 $99
Mitsubishi Diamond
21" 1600x1200 glass finger touch-screen CRT 3ms response monitor. Capacitive 1024x1024 touch points

Stylistic 3400 Tablet finger touch-screen computer PIII 400mhz, 132MB, 6GB
Toshiba drive, PCMCIA, IR, USB 1.1. Both AC->DC and DC->DC
power supplies. Win2000 installed. Included removable base adds only 1.5 inches
to the size of the tablet and provides connections for LPT (parallel), COM
(serial), USB 1.1, Ethernet, PS2 mouse and keyboard, floppy, nd external video.
Extra batteries that hold charge and diminutive (~5"x9"x3/8")
Fujitsu IR-connected keyboard also included. I also have a second base
adapter that I'd like to sell at the same time. Excellent clean, ding-free
condition. Blemish-free LCD. $? Either buy it or -- preferably -- offer to
install XP on it and I'll keep it ;-) I have legal copies of XP SP2 and XP
Tablet and can provide new 20GB drive to install it on and will pay reasonable
fee (or swap) for proven-good XP install. (I'm unloading everything pre-XP.)

Thermostat
Just-Right digital non-programmable, not remote-enabled. heat-cool. auto-manual

Aprilaire 8809 Communicating Subbase
that it plugs into that I'll sell for 1/2 1/3 of the low mail-order price for a
new Aprilaire 8870. SOLD
Download 8846 instruction manual here
The combination of the 8846 and the 8809 base was the top-of-the line thermostat
before the 8870 came out. It is equivalent in thermostatic function to the
8870. It uses the same commands set as the 8870. One needs either the 8809
communicating sub-base or Aprilaire Communications panel to communicate with a
HA system. I chose not to use this in our setup because I wanted all the
thermostats in the house to be the same so as not to confuse folks. The boxes
are a bit dirty but the contents are clean and fine. It has
"outdoor/indoor" and night/day buttons that the 8870 doesn't have. It
has a single vertical LCD instead of two horizontal LCD's of the 8870. It has a
smaller footprint on the wall, being 1-1/2" narrower and 1/2" shorter
than the 8870.

Audio:
Ivie 784PW and 884PW
8-in, 4-out audio matrix mixers.
Great for all manner of HA audio including voice control.
See my write-up with links and home automation applications here: www.econtrol.org/audio.htm.
Documentation here:
www.ivie.com/documentation.htm
www.ivie.com/pdf/884man.pdf
A pair can be ganged to create a 16-in, 8-out mixer. The 784's and 884's can be
used together. The 884's differ from the 784's in that the 884's have
auto-mixing and auto-gain of the inputs for microphone voice control of HA.
Gain and mixing is manual (albeit 'automatable') with the 784's. I had to
buy a large batch of these and now need to dispose of the extras. Free AudioNet
software for RS-232/485 control available from Ivie. They are also readily
controlled by a simple ASCII protocol. Or 0-10vdc control signals. And (or)
simple push-buttons with three resistors.
All in excellent-but-used condition. Have a few minor marks especially at
rack-mount screw holes typical of normal installation.
A look at the feature list
and block diagram will show
how flexible and useful these remarkable devices are and why they are so
expensive. The price for the trivially different 884+ at the AV Superstore is $1927.00
784PW -- $90 each
$70 each-- Have two (2) for
sale.
884PW -- $150 each
$130
each-- Have eight
(I think) extras for sale.
ABIK, the 884PW differs
from the current 884+ models in three minor ways:
| The RS-232-->RS-485 converter is built-in to
the 884+ but is external to the 884PW. You only need one per system
(available for ~$15 on eBay or use one of the Comtrol RS-xxx devices
listed elsewhere on this Porch Sale page.) |
The selectable attenuator pad on the PW is
-50db; on the 884+ it is -35db |
The block diagram for the 884PW shows detectors
at the outputs not indicated on the 884+ |
|
